The chair conducts rigorous work based on historical and contemporary data to better understand the motivations and implications of international migration for the global economy as well as for receiving and sending countries.

The LEM (Laboratory of Economics and Management) is a Joint Research Unit (No. 9221) that brings together the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research), the University of Lille, and the IESEG School of Management, with the partner institutions being the University of Artois and the University of Littoral-Côte d'Opale. The research conducted within LEM is inherently multidisciplinary. It encompasses both theoretical and applied research, and the members of LEM respond to requests from economic and social environments.
